Strobe's GP2 Quick Race Length Utility v1.0 (craig@sco.com)
http://ourworld.compuserve.com/homepages/strobie/gp2util.htm

This utility is intended for use with Microprose Grand Prix 2, but please
note that it is not supported in any way by the Spectrum Holobyte-Microprose
company.

Puzzlingly, there is no way to adjust the default length of a quick race from
the GP2 menus. This utility gets around that by patching the game's saved
state file (F1GSTATE.SAV) directly.

Place the binary (QRACELEN.EXE) in the same directory as your GP2.EXE.

To display the current setting of quick race length, simply type

        qracelen

To change the setting type

        qracelen <number>

where <number> is the desired race distance expressed as a percentage
of the full race distance, for example

        qracelen 50

You can set the distance above 100%, but note that for any track, you can
not have more than 99 laps - if the resulting quick race length would be 100
laps or more, the total number of laps will wrap round. The game also sets
a minimum of 3 laps.

The new setting will take effect next time you load GP2, providing that
you do not specify "noloadstate" on the command line, or in your environment.
