What is it?

This tool won't make you any better at playing GP2. But
it will help to let your custom track names that appear
on the "Select Circuit" menu look better, if for no
other reason than they'll be the right length. The problem
is that you export track names to GP2 without knowing how
they'll look in the game. Sometimes the names scroll past
the edge of the screen, and end up not looking good
(for those to whom this matters, therefore this program).
The included font (Gp2.fon) is exactly like the one used in
GP2, so the style and spacing is the same. Unfortunately
you can't change the particular font used in GP2, but at
least you can see what you end up with.

How to use TextAppeal

When you run TextAppeal, you'll see five text windows on the
right of the screen. Type in the trackname that you wish
to use, and see it appear on the left side of the screen in
a simulated view of the "Select Circuit" menu in GP2.

Obviously there are 16 slots in the game, but I've included
only 5 for the sake of keeping the program small.

With your original tracks, this particular menu in GP2 is
reserved for country names, and the little box in the
bottom-right corner in GP2 is reserved for both country and
track name. However, with all the different tracks out there,
you'll probably be using the track name only.

With this program you can see how the names will look in both
of these positions in the menu. The left edge of the little
GP2 menu in this program is also the same distance from the
edge of it's window as the menu in GP2 is from the edge of
the screen, so you'll know if your track name is too long.

Click on the little checkboxes next to the names. That
particular name also appears in the bottom box, so you can
see how both positions will look.

Nothing is saved or exported here. It's purely to get an
idea of the menu visually. Then you can just copy the names
over to your chosen export tool.

If someone out there would like to have a tool that can export
as well, to simplify the whole job, please let me know.
