I have been playing gp2 through dosbox in Linux for a few months now. The other day I did a full length 78 lap race at Monaco, and I notice I get some framerate slowdown at times. Especially going through the first corner and heading up the hill (I think it is called saint-devot?)
I have a 3.7ghz processor and 32 gigs of ram. I am using dosbox .74. Normally at all of the other tracks my game runs at about 70% processor occupancy.
When I went into my dosbox configuration I made some changes to make it run faster, but I don't think it made any difference. I tried both CPU dynamic and auto options- couldn't notice an improvement. Cycles are also set to "max".
I'm thinking about building a faster machine so I can run dosbox games at full speed, but I want to see if there are any other options before I do so. I really prefer playing dos games (GP2 and ICR2 rather than the modern stuff)
